I finally got around to doing the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2015 for May. Yes, I did miss April out, due to family bereavements, I will do that one before the end of the year so as to have a set.

As before before, I wanted to do something similar to the design showcased by Tim on his blog, but using what I had in my stash.

I cut the tag from mount board with my trust Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplate die. I have used this die for all the tags so far (and for many more tags, it is one of the best dies I have ever bought!)

I covered the tag with a piece of hessian and trimmed it to fit. I frayed it a little around the edges as I didn’t want it to look too neat.

I applied some Pigment Modelling Paste through a stencil on one side, and when it was dry I brushed Peacock Feathers distress ink over it. I used the same ink to colour some paper lace from Salco Innovations, and added that on the other side of the card.

I glued some scraps of silver netting to the card.TTPrettyFaceTag2

I created my own photobooth type image, sanded the edges and then coloured the girl’s clothes with a Peacock Feather’s Distress Marker (I do love that colour!). I also added a bit of colour to her lips.

I printed out the saying, inked over it with Tea Die Distress Ink, then added some Brushed Corduroy around the edges. I popped some Brushed Corduroy around the outside of the tag too.

The bird is a small wooden laser cut from the Artemio Paris mini wood set, coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

The tiny roses were cut by my Silhouette Portrait. I found a rolled rose file in the Silhoette store and reduced it down tiny. I cut the roses from a scrap of text paper and inked the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

The silver twirls are from an old set of peel-offs. I used a scrap of fuzzy string instead of a ribbon on this one.

Finally I gave it all a little burst of Lava red Cosmic Shimmer Mist. This did not really work out well and I am annoyed that so much went on the “pretty face” words. Once on, it is not possible to remove it. Maybe I will reprint these words at some point, until then I can live with it!
