Tin Teddy Shamrock Earrings Pattern Free Pattern for St Patrick's Day

Today I would like to share with you a simple free pattern for making a pair of shamrock earrings – ideal for St Patrick’s Day.

These are very quick to make.  Because they are on quite a small-scale they may be a bit fiddly for newer crocheters.  You could practise by making them with a larger hook and thicker yarn.  I have made some different sized versions for other projects – they look cute on gift cards.

Shamrock Earrings

You Need:

  • small amount of green crochet cotton, size 10 (or similar)
  • 2 mm crochet hook (US size B/1)
  • a pair of earring hooks
  • fabric glue or PVA glue

How to crochet the shamrock:

Starting loop – Chain 4 and join into a ring with a slip stitch

Make a leaf using which ever type of instruction you are most comfortable with, UK or US.

UK Flag to Denote UK Crochet Pattern instructions  UK Version – Leaf –  Chain 4, (1 double treble, 1 treble, 1 double treble) into the ring, Chain 4, Slip stitch into ring

US Flag to Denote US Crochet Pattern instructions  US Version – Leaf –  Chain 4, (1 treble, 1 double, 1 trble) into the ring, Chain 4, Slip stitch into ring

Continue with the shamrock…

Repeat the Leaf twice more so you have 3 in total

Stem – Chain 10 to make the stem

Slip stitch in 5th chain from the hook

Slip stitch into each of the remaining 4 chain stitches

Slip stitch in to the initial ring to finish

Cut off, leaving a tail, thread it through to the back of the shamrock

Trim both ends short

Use a dot of fabric glue (or PVA glue) to secure the ends in place

Make another one to match.

Insert the loop of the earring hook through the end of the stem and wear!
