Learn how to make four beautiful and very handy bags. Even if you are very new to sewing you will find these courses easy to understand and follow.
Although I am quite an experienced sewer I still found lots of interest in these two courses as they teach very professional techniques in a clear and enjoyable way.
Basics: Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch
The first course shows how to make a neat reversible tote bag – that is just asking to be decorated afterwards! Plus a cute little zippered pouch that could be used as a make up bag, pencil case or similar.
The tote bag is a nice simple design that can be made by a beginning sewer. The more experienced stitchers will find lots of ways to personalize and customize the bag.
The pouch introduces the insertion of a zipper, something many sewers might feel nervous about trying. Kirsten has some very handy little tips for making this process painless and logical. The finished result is very neat and professional looking.
Many of the techniques in this course will be useful for other projects.
Bag-Making Basics: Drawstring Bag & Bucket Bag
The drawstring bag would be great for school gym kit or as a shoe bag. Or as a general storage bag. Kristin demonstrates how to personalize it with initials, but of course you could embroider, appliqué or paint any design you wished. You will learn how to easily deal with the drawstrings and their channel.
In the video, Kirsten is using the bucket bag to store knitting. It would be great for other crafts too, as well as children toys. This is a particularly attractive bag and would make a very lovely gift. The end result looks far more difficult to make than it actually is.
Both these designs lend themselves well to utilizing patchwork fabrics.
Kristin has a lovely, soft voice and sounds interested and enthusiastic as she explains her techniques. Good camera work too, plenty of close-ups so you can easily see what she is doing.
All the bag styles are timeless and easily customizable. They have lots of uses around the home, as gifts and as showcases for your other crafting techniques.
The attention to detail is wonderful. You will not just learn how to make 4 styles of bags, but how to make them really well. The finished results will look professional and top quality. These skills are a genuine asset to any stitcher, old or new.
